After signing for the club last January, Hugo Rodallega has shown steady improvement and following his brace against Burnley at the weekend was singled out for praise by manager Roberto Martinez.

The 24 year old Columbian international now has five goals for the Latics so far this season and has been a real highlight in the club's good start to the campaign.

Rodallega has really impressed new Latics boss Roberto Martinez, who singled the striker out for special praise after the Burnley victory.

Martinez is quoted: "All he wants to do is play football and to push himself to the limit, and he has the perfect attitude.

"As a striker, naturally his main attribute is finishing. In that respect, since the start of the season when he scored at Villa, you can see he has been full of confidence.

"He plays with a smile on his face, and is someone who just needs a chance to score a goal, and we hope he can carry on in this sort of form."

Also on the scoresheet at the weekend was Emmerson Boyce. It was the 30 year old's first goal for eleven months and in typical modest fashion, Boyce chose to praise Rodallega.

He said: "As a team player he is perfect. He is a quiet lad, but he proves how talented he is on the pitch and he is full of confidence in himself in terms of his ability.

"He works for the team, and when he needs to he pulls out important goals for us, proving just how vital he is for this club. He is scoring a lot of winners, chipping in with goals when we need them, and that's what you need from a striker."
