As many predicted, Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega is Steve Bruce's first signing in the January transfer window but will only join up with the squad on January 15th.
This is a huge boost for Wigan with Emile Heskey and Amr Zaki both missing the FA Cup trip to Tottenham through injury leaving Henri Camara as the only fit striker and forcing Olivier Kapo to become an emergency striker.
A fee has not yet been revealed by Spanish Club Necaxa with the Clubs board of directors currently in Mexico City finalising the closure of the Mexican transfer window however at the club has released a statement through spokesperson Rosendo Duhart
'It is a fact. Hugo is joining Wigan on January 15th. I cannot say more as the board are in Mexico City at the Mexican Football Federation headquarters because the transfer window is closing, but I was told and I can say the transfer has been set.'
Rodallega could be in line to make his debut away at Manchester City on January 17th with the home game against Liverpool more than likely his home debut.
