JR: New deal please...
The powerhouse striker has scored thirteen goals in thirty-four appearances this season, forging a frightening partnership with Senegalese international Henri Camara. Four of his appearances have been as a substitute.

Roberts told the BBC: "I'm happy at Wigan and things have gone well. It's been an enjoyable time in my career since I've been there so hopefully I'll be able to tie up a new contract. I have up until the end of next season before my contract is up, which isn't a long way off."

Meanwhile, the man with the comedy hair-cut, Jimmy Bullard, has told Sky Sports that he wants the Latics to achieve a European spot this season.

Bullard said: "I fancy our chances to get right up there. Top sevenish, that's what we're looking at. We're looking at seventh place, eighth place, as high as we can. We don't really look at positions, our main concentration is on three points in the next game and we go from there.

"Hopefully [Jewell] can bring Wigan even higher - we need him at the club, as we need everyone at the club - we are not the biggest club at all."

The Latics face fellow European hopefuls Manchester City this weekend at Eastlands in what should be a very competitive fixture between the local rivals.

City went through to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup this week with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
