Wigan Athletic yesterday confirmed that Spanish striker Oriol Riera has joined La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna on a permanent basis.
Riera spent the second half of last season on loan at Deportivo after failing to make an impact at the DW Stadium.
The 28-year old only scored one solitary goal in 13 Championship appearances for the Latics last campaign.
He has signed a three-year deal in Spain after Wigan agreed to sell for an undisclosed fee. However, Wigan boss Gary Caldwell could be on the verge of signing a replacement striker.
Reports emerged this morning that the Latics had a £1 million bid accepted by Dundee United for Nadir Ciftci.
The Turkish centre forward was recently the subject of an apparent £900,000 offer from Scottish giants Celtic, which was ultimately rejected.
Ciftci could now be on his way to League One as Caldwell continues to build his new look squad.
The 23-year old scored 16 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for Dundee United last season.
