Star of the show against Reading in the final game of the season has seen Jason Jarrett offered a three year deal.

The 25 year old midfielder has impressed since recovering from a broken leg at the start of the season.

Full Back Steve McMillan and winger Gary Teale have both been offered two year deals, whilst goalkeeping reserve, Gary Walsh has been offered another twelve months.

Nathan Ellington and Jimmy Bullard are also believed to be in talks with the club over extending their current deals.

Midfielders Gareth Whalley and Paul Mitchell meanwhile have been told that they may find new clubs.

Mitchell joined the Latics at young age after being released by Manchester City and played a significant part in the rise of the club from the Second division, or league one as it is now know.

Best of luck to the pair in their search for a new club.

Meanwhile, now that Paul Jewell is back from Barbados, he can set about constructing his side ready for their assault on the Premiership.

First on his shopping list is a director of football. Jewell has stressed the need for more backroom staff with the growing demands placed on his shoulders.

John Benson had been linked with the post, but it was sharply realised that his appointment would be a big mistake and he was left be at Birmingham City.

On the playing field, Alan Stubbs and Leon Osman of Everton have been linked with a move. Both players are unhappy with the contracts they have been offered by Everton and could make the short trip from Goodison Park.
