Real Madrid Line up Luis

New Real Madrid boss and former Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has lined up a January bid for Ecuadorian winger Luis Antonio Valencia in a £14m deal. Valencia has been in great from so far this season and shone in the last club game in the 3-0 win over Blackburn.

The former Villarreal winger has attracted a lot of admirers since signing for the club with Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and now Real Madrid all linked with bids. Steve Bruce has stated that he does not want any of his stars leaving in January but if Real Madrid come knocking, it will be hard to turn down the Spanish giants. Earlier this week, Bruce was speaking about Valencia being linked with Tottenham after a fee of £7m was rumoured to be the price.

"When Antonio is on form, he's a real handful for any defence. You know how highly I rate him," Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post.

"He had a fantastic game against Blackburn - he's quick, powerful and has a goal in him too, which is good.

"I've said it a few times, that if David Bentley cost £15million, then how much is Antonio worth?

"I don't want to put valuations on anybody, and the last thing I want to do is sell people.

"We're on the verge of building a really good team and I don't want to dismantle that. We've got power, pace and energy throughout."

The fee for Valencia could be as high as £20m if any club wishes to tempt Bruce and Whelan into selling so come February, Valencia has a strong chance of being a Wigan player.
