The Prime Minister sang the praises of De Zeeuw on Football Focus, stating: "I could do with this guy in the whips office at the moment. The thing I like about him is that he is really strong and never gives up at all."

Latics captain De Zeeuw was shocked by such recognition and said: "I might have to think about a career change."
