Prices announced: £84 or 28.4% hike in season ticket prices

The prices of season tickets have been increased by £84 or 28.4% by the club who are arguing that prices remain competitive.

In 2013/14 a WS6 season ticket cost was £335, this was an increase from £295 the previous year, 2012/13. This increase was understandable as despite relegation, the club would now play 23 home league games instead of 19, and the ticket included admisson to all three of the European fixtures, i.e. a total of 26 games compared with 19 the season before.

With the European fixtures now gone, the raw ticket prices are comparing a 26 game campaign in 2013/14 with a 23 game campaign in 2014/15 and based on a 23 game season the 2013/14 would have been £296.

Comparing the £335, to the early bird price of £360, is an increase of 7.4%, already above inflation. Factor in the fact that the club is now playing 3 less home games and the price increase is a whopping £64, or 21.5%, almost £3 a game, and that's for supporters taking advantage of the early bird price.

The same seat for a supporter who misses out on the early bird discount would represent an increase of £84 or 28.4%.

Furthemore, there is no loyalty discount for supporters who are renewing their ticket and the club.

For a club trying to build a fan base the decision to try to deceive fans in this way is somewhat disappointing.

Anyone still interested in renewing their ticket can see the details on the club's official website.
