The Wigan manager said: "Polly has been a fantastic servant for Wigan in his year and a bit with us," he told the official website: "but i have the luxury of having three great goalkeepers at this club. At the moment, Chris Kirkland has the number one jersey but i think it's important for the goalkeepers to get games."

Aussie John Filan had a loan spell at Doncaster but was recalled to Wigan recently after Pollitt was suffering from a virus. The club have stated that they can recall Pollitt to the JJB Stadium at 24 hours notice.

Paul Jewell wants to keep his number two and three goalkeepers in shape and match sharp in case Chris Kirkland, whos eleventh appearance against Charlton marked his joint longest run of games in his career, gets injured.

Pollitt is expected to make his debut for the Tractor boys against their heated rivals Norwich this weekend.
