Pollitt set for one year extension

The 36 year old goalkeeper is currently the Latics' longest serving player after joining from Rotherham for £200,000 in the first Premiership season.

Speaking of his desire to remain with the club, Pollitt said: "The club want to speak to my agent so hopefully things should get sorted out soon. I want to stay, I like it here, so I'll see what the offer is like and make up my mind.

"It's three years since I came to Wigan and it's amazing I am the longest-serving player after such a relatively short period. That just shows what a big turnover of players there has been as the club tries to establish itself in the Premier League.

"Obviously it wasn't ideal for me to sit on the bench all season but Chris was in outstanding form, so how I could I moan?

"I like working with Chris and Nigel Spink, who has also come in as
goalkeeping coach. As long as I'm involved in the first-team squad and have got a chance of playing at some stage, I'll be okay."
