Pollitt on Loan, Wright off to Town

Pollitt has fallen behind Chris Kirkland in the pecking order, despite an amazing debut Premiership campaign last season.

Jewell said: "It is a problem when you have three such good goalkeepers at one club, because one is always not going to be involved in the squad if they're all fit," Jewell told the club's official website.
Mike Pollitt: One month loan to Burnley

"I hope Polly gets to get some games under his belt with Burnley, because nothing improves sharpness better than matches."

Similar to his loan spell at Ipswich Town, a 24-hour recall clause has been inserted in his contract, in case Chris Kirkland or John Filan get injured.

Defender David Wright has followed Pollit out of the club, signing a permanent deal with Championship side Ipswich Town, for an unknown fee.

Wright spent three seasons at Wigan, but never nailed down a permanent place in the side.

Jewell said: "He's never moaned and has always tried his best for me, which as a manager is all you can ask for. Ironically, he's had his longest spell in the team for a while in recent weeks, and had done well, proving to himself that he can perform at the highest level.

"However, I owe it to him to give him the chance of permanent first team football, which hopefully he will get at Ipswich."

With two players out, and Teale rumoured to be a third, all eyes are on who Jewell brings in. After moaning about a small squad, surely he couldn't let go two players without having anyone else lined up?
