Nugent linked as Bouaouzan departs

The former Sparta Rotterdam winger made his debut in the 4-0 Carling Cup victory over Notts County last week and will return to Dutch football just one year after joining the Latics.

Bouaouzan cost the Latics around £750,000 and has moved to NEC initially on loan with a view to a permenant deal if he impresses. No fee has been discussed as yet.

Steve Bruce said: "I do feel for Rachid, because it has been frustrating for him. I hope he has success back in Holland this season."

Meanwhile, there could be a late twist on transfer deadline day with both Middlesbrough striker Mido, and Portsmouth forward David Nugent being linked with the Latics.

Egyptian striker Mido has been on form so far this season and has fired three goals already. He would love to team up with international colleague, Amr Zaki at the JJB Stadium.

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has repeatedly stated that Mido is not for sale, but a bid of around £7 million could tempt his hand.

Nugent meanwhile has been out of favour at Fratton Park since his move to Portsmouth a little over a year ago. The former North End striker is looking for a move to guarantee increased first team opportunities.

Both moves are said to swing on the future of Emile Heskey who despite confirming his commitment to the Latics, continues to be linked with both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Steve Bruce has said there will be no more activity at the JJB Stadium before the deadline, but should the Latics receive a £10 million offer for Heskey, it could well prove too tempting.

The next few hours up to mid-night could once again be busy at the JJB Stadium.
