First up is the PFA team of the season.

The Latics have had Jason Roberts, Nathan Ellington and Jimmy Bullard nominated for an award by their fellow professionals.

The team will be announced a a dinner in London on the 24th of April and results of which will no doubt be posted on this site.

Matt McCann meanwhile has been appointed as head of communications and media by the club. He will officialy take over the post on the 25th April.

He is currently the head of news at local radio station WishFM, and commentates on all Latics away games.

We are not sure if this will interfere with his role at Wish FM, anyone who does know is welcome to let us know!

McCann told the club's official website: "It's a huge privilege to be approached to join Wigan Athletic at what is undoubtedly the most exciting time in the clubs history. My role at the club will be to trumpet the many successes and good news stories that are happening at Latics and making sure we are portrayed in a professional and positive light in the media. We are no longer 'Little Wigan' and we don't deserve to be portrayed as such! We are rubbing shoulders with the giants of English football and for the first time in our history we are doing this as equals."

The shareholders AGM was held at the JJB Stadium yesterday evening and shareholders were told a few things about the club.

The appointment of Matt McCann was confirmed, whilst supporters were also told that goalkeeper John Filan signed a new two year contract with the club.

Massive news for every fan as the 33 year old stopper had planned to move back to Australia.

Supporters were also told that the club will have a new home strip to be released in July. The kit will have vertical blue and white stripes and the club hopes to play in the strip for the final game of this season.

Finally I may be able to get my hands on THAT hooded top!
