Wigan have stood firm with thier £6million valuation of the player and with the transfer window closing soon it looks like Chimbonda is resigned to staying with the Lancashire outfit.
Although admitting that he would still sell Chimbonda if the right offer came in, Jewell has stated that he is determined to keep the World Cup star.
Talking to sky sports, Jewell said: "We've been talking to his agent over the last couple of days about a possible new deal."
"Like anybody else, if he can't agree a deal and the right offer comes in for him he can go, but until that right offer comes in he's not going."
"If they (Tottenham) want to pay the money reluctantly i would let him go. If they don't want to pay the money delightedly he would stay."
Wigan's firm stance over Chimbonda has been a pleasant change for many, as the club have shown that they won't be held to ransom by a player and their money grabbing agents.
