Mido wants to fill Heskey's boots

New loan signing Mido has stated that he has what it takes to fill the boots of the England hit man. Mido joined the club on the same day that Heskey left for Aston Villa and Mido believes that he can step in and make an instant impact at the JJB.

Limited first team opportunities and niggling injuries restricted Mido to first team football which led to Bruce bringing in the Egyptian striker until the end of the season however Mido has said he would be happy to make the move permanent in the summer.

"He (Heskey) is top class. He is the best target man in England," Mido told Sky Sports News.

"I think my game is in a way similar to his as a target man. All I can say is I will try my best.

"I want to work very hard until the end of the season. I want to make this permanent in the summer."

"It was an easy decision (To leave Middlesbrough). I needed to be somewhere, where I could play football," he added.

"I needed to work with someone like Steve Bruce. I think I made the right choice. He knows exactly what I want and I know exactly what he wants.

"I want to play football and I am desperate to do well. So far it has been brilliant, the sessions have been sharp.

"I have no regrets you just make decisions in football. Middlesbrough are a good club, I have got a lot of friends there but I just need to play football.

"I was a little bit unlucky at Middlesbrough with injuries but people forget that the truth is I played 32 games and scored seven goals that's not a bad percentage."

Mido will go straight into the starting line up to face Liverpool tomorrow where he will link up with Amr Zaki and aim to help him end his goals scored in open play drought. Zaki last scored in open play against Liverpool at Anfield and will hope he can haunt the title chasers once again.
