Mido remains on Wigan radar

Middlesbrough striker Mido is being lined up as a transfer target by boss Steve Bruce who wants to sign the Egyptian in a possible loan deal, with Marlon King possibly heading to the Riverside in a separate transfer.

Mido, who is an international team mate with Amr Zaki, has long been admired by Bruce and a deal to bring him to the JJB could be in place by the time Liverpool are due in Wigan in eight days time.

A move for Mido will add depth to the front line with Hugo Rodallega finalising his move to the club later this week. With Amr Zaki, Emile Heskey, Hugo Rodallega and possibly Mido competing for a starting birth, Henri Camara's future will be cast further into doubt.

Camara's contract is up at the end of the season and it is expected that he will either run down his contract or be moved on by Steve Bruce to prevent losing out on making some money for the player.

The other strikers who are still on Wigan's books are Antoine Sibierski and Marlon King. Sibierski is injured at the minute resulting in his loan spell at Norwich ending early but again does not figure in Bruce's plans and could either leave this month or be shipped out in the summer. King was loaned out to Hull City in the summer after a permanent deal fell through and is now being lined up by Gareth Southgate.

King has been in good form for Hull so far this season but after a bust up with Tigers boss Phil Brown, King could make the move to Middlesbrough in a permanent deal after failing to settle at Wigan.

With Mido and Hugo Rodallega linked to join Wigan and with the possible departure of Wilson Palacios, Bruce may bring in a replacement for Palacios to finalise his dealings for the transfer window.
