Big chance for Lee tonight
Vogts said: "This match marks the first stage of our World Cup campaign, as it gives these players a chance to show what they can do.

"Our young players need international football experience, and for for those not involved in the Champions' League or UEFA Cup, this is a great opportunity to get that experience."

He was capped at Under-21 and Under-18 level during his time with Motherwell and this is ineffect a B squad cap should he play.

In other Wigan news, Jewell has been quick to point out that the fans would have taken 8th place this far into the season, had they been asked before the season opened.

He said: "Every Wigan fan bar none would have taken our current league position if offered it a few months ago. We are on a bad run at the moment but every side goes through something like this at some stage. Certain people seem to think Wigan should be excluded from such a run, but it does happen. People have started to think that we can win every single game, and not just that, but win them comfortably.

Gerard Wiekens & Nathan Ellington
"I watched the Everton and Manchester City game on Sunday and they are two sides struggling for confidence at the moment. The recent games against Sunderland, West Ham and Nottingham Forest have taken a lot out of us. Certain players are not playing so well at the moment, but it is no different to what happens elsewhere."

Meanwhile, Jewell must be trying to bring a loan player in for the game at Crewe. Both Jackson and Breckin are suspended for the game leaving PJ with just Jason de Vos to play at centre half.

Names such as, Martin Taylor (Blackburn), Peter Clarke (Everton), Gerard Wiekens (Man City) and John Welsh (Liverpool) are being thrown about.
