McCarthy ready for QPR test

The Latics have lost their last two league games with defeats at home to both Sunderland and Manchester City and midfielder McCarthy is targetting maximum points from this weekends trip to Loftus Road.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, McCarthy said: "We were straight back into it at training yesterday, and we need to have a right good go at these final 17 games.

"There’s no looking down now, only up – and we’ll go into every game confident of getting the points we need with the help of our fans behind us.”

Queens Park Rangers have recently appointed former Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes who takes over from Neil Warnock who was recently relieved of his duties.

Sitting perilously close to the relegation zone, the Latics will no doubt be hoping to take three points from Loftus Road and thoroughly drag Hughes' new team into the mire.
