The former Hamilton midfielder has set the Premiership alight with his displays since breaking into the first team in early January. His performances have drawn a great deal of attention and will no doubt have attracted attention from the top clubs.
McCarthy however is happy with the Latics, he said: "It's great to be tipped to go places, but I'm not getting carried away. I'm happy at Wigan and I have a four-year contract.
"It's been a brilliant season for me. To be making my debut in the Premier League against United and then my debut for Ireland against Brazil - a dream come true." McCarthy has been a real plus for manager Roberto Martinez who is starting to build an impressive looking young squad at the DW Stadium.
