Hot on the heels of the news that Hugo Rodallega, Momo Diame, Steve Gohouri, and Chris Kirkland are all set to leave at the end of their contracts, Martinez has revealed that he hopes to keep the same squad numbers for next season.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post about the proposed summer transfer activity, Martinez said: “We recognise we need to bring four players in, because that is how many we expect to lose.

“There are four players out of contract and I expect them all to go – Hugo Rodallega, Momo Diame, Chris Kirkland and Steve Gohouri.

“The idea is to keep the same numbers as we had this season. And it’s something I’d like to do quite quickly, before the Euros if possible.”

Following the inspirational displays over the past two months, the Latics have won over a number of supporters across world football and so attracting top class talent should not be too difficult.
