Martinez praise for consistent Thomas

Thomas endured a difficult first season that saw his form tail off after a superb start to the season.

The Honduran however has been right on top of his game so far this season, a fact that has not gone unrecognised by the Latics boss.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said: “I haven’t been surprised at all by Hendry’s form this year, because I know exactly what he is capable of.

“But it’s been so good to see him enjoying his football and showing such a high level of consistency. The way he has adapted to the Premier League this season has been quite remarkable.

“Last season he started off very well, but the demands of the English game can be tough on midfielders and he had a bit of a time-out before coming back strong. This season, his understanding and tactical awareness has gone on to a different level.

“It has been so pleasing to see him playing in different positions within the midfield and having such an impact in the side.”
