'Bob' has spent the best part of this season at the Vetch Field and manager Brian Flynn has already expressed his will to keep the Spaniard.

"We met up on Tuesday and had a long discussion about my aims for next season and I made Roberto aware that I see him playing a major role," Flynn told the club's official website.

"He wants to sign for us and of course, I want him to sign, but we are still some way from agreeing anything.

"He's returned to Spain to think it over, but I've not set him any deadlines for a decision.

"I'd be naive to think that he hasn't got any other options available. The way he played for us in the last three months of the season means that people would have taken notice, but he has given me his word that he won't be discussing anything with other clubs whilst discussions with us are ongoing.

" Like I said, he wants to sign for us and we want him to sign so that's a good starting point and hopefully, we can build from that and agree on a deal that will see Roberto staying with us next year."
