Martinez annoyed with McLeish antics

It is somewhat amusing to Wigan Athletic supporters that N'Zogbia would be interested in a move to Birmingham City, a club with only one glimmouring Premiership season to their name since their recent promotion.

Perhaps the new money bags owner is the real reason anyone would want to leave the Wigan ship for Birmingham, it is unlikely to be the mid-table obscurity?

Either way, Roberto Martinez is annoyed with the antics of Alex McLeish regarding Birmingham's ongoing interest in N'Zogbia.

The Blues had an £8 million bid turned down by the Latics at the start of the summer, and given the recent turbulent incidents with N'Zogbia, McLeish's interest has re-emmerged.

What has most annoyed Martinez is that fact that Birmingham's new found interest has lost a few notes from the interest in May.

Martinez said: "We had a couple of offers in May and now the offer is less than the one we had in May and then they come publicly in the press. It doesn't look serious to me.

"The valuation is very clear. If the team matches it he can speak with them. Until that happens he is a Wigan Athletic player.

"The transfer window brings you that distraction but when you get other managers talking about your players, that is really disappointing - to unsettle players and the press with no substance behind it.

"I don't know the reason behind it, whether it is to get the fans' hopes high in your football club, I don't know. Charles has had a difficult few days and it is our fault.

"We should not allow the transfer window to be open when the competition is ongoing. I don't think it is respectful to the league or the fans and it needs to be considered by the authorities."

For any potential buyer listening, it is not rocket science. Simply meet the asking price and the player is yours. You can make yourself look stupid in public if you want by bidding through the papers, but ask Steve Bruce, that doesn't work at Wigan anymore.
