Marathon man lined up to replace Palacios

Marathon man Jimmy Bullard has apparently been lined up by Steve Bruce as a replacement for midfielder Wilson Palacios. Bullard, who has been called up to the England squad in recent times, could make a return to the JJB Stadium after Fulham failed to guarantee offering Bullard a new contract which has led to interest from a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal and local rivals Bolton.

After gaining his reputation at the JJB under Paul Jewell before moving on, Bullard could be tempted to return to Wigan where he enjoyed two promotions and a Carling Cup final. Fulham are unlikely to let Bullard go on the cheap and a bid of £5m may not be enough to tempt the Londoner's into selling their star midfielder.

This is unlikely to deter Bruce who should have funds available after selling Palacios for £14m which could lead to an offer Fulham may not be able to refuse as Bruce looks to bring back the energetic Bullard to Wigan.
