The 32 year old forward played the second forty-five minutes in the Latics 1-1 draw with Blackburn yesterday after his move to Leicester collapsed late last week.
The Foxes had a £1 million offer for Maloney accepted last week but couldn't agree personal terms with the former Celtic player.
With Celtic also rumoured to be interested in signing Maloney who is out of contract with the LAtics in the summer.
Chicago Fire would appear to be in pole position for Maloney as they are offering the greatest personal terms which will offer personal security for the players.
There has yet to be any official word from any of the parties following the collapse of the Leicester move last week.
