Maloney back in US for treatment

The 30 year old forward has been out injured for the majority of this season following his hip complaint and there are rumours that his trip back to the USA is a result of a further complaint following his operation.

However Latics boss Uwe Rosler has revealed that Maloney hasn't had a 'bad report' on the injury but has returned to the USA for his final check up.

Speaking to the club's official website, Rosler said: “Shaun Maloney has gone back to the USA for his last check up, so hopefully everything will go to plan over there after his rehabilitation here.

“We haven’t had any bad report back from Shaun, but it will still be a while before he plays for the team.”

It is hoped that Maloney will be able to return to the first team toward the end of April for the final run in, and hopefully, the play offs.

Meanwhile the Latics continue to struggle defensively with Chris McCann filing in at the back against Doncaster as injuries take their toll.

Everton loanee Tyias Browning has come in to add weight to the department, but found on Saturday how tough the division can be and Rosler has revealed that Ramis and Rogne are not too far away from a return.

“Gary Caldwell is not training with the team at the moment because of injury, but Ivan Ramis is making big improvements," added the Latics manager.

“Thomas Rogne is back on the grass now individually so he’s getting close to returning to the main group.”
