Make JET the priority

This summer is massive for Wigan Athletic; players will come and go ready for next season in League One.

This week the Chairman David Sharpe admitted that the club's recruitment process will be changed after the last campaign's failings.

He admitted that himself and the manager Gary Caldwell are aiming for experienced players, who have experienced promotion from the division before.

As well as this he stated that the club are aiming for players between the ages of 24-27. So, why not go for the best of both worlds and look no further than Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

First of all, he is a free agent after being released by Bristol City, meaning he would cost the club only wage fees. Secondly, he is 24 years of age, so he fits Sharpey's age group perfectly.

But, most importantly, he scores goals and knows what it is like to lift the League One title. Therefore he has the experience required at this level.

He won the League One title with Bristol City as recently as Saturday 18th April 2015. During the season, he scored 12 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions.

A season where the Robins also won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Emmanuel-Thomas is everything we're looking for in terms of playing ability and financial security. For that very reason, I believe we should make him our priority signing.
