Mackay hoping to seal two signings

Liam Ridgewell's short term loan switch has been the only addition to the club during January with a host of players either leaving, or rumoured to be leaving the DW Stadium.

Mackay was keen to put a positive spin on the situation as he told the Wigan Evening Post that the club is working hard to bring in players before the window closes at the end of the month.

“We’re still working hard," said Mackay. “Jonathan Jackson and David Sharpe have been working hard trying to move things along.

“And there is an appetite to try to do two or maybe three loan deals if we can get them done. We’re at different stages with different players, but the management have been helping me as much as they can and I’m grateful for that.”

No names have been mentioned but it is expected that any additions would be on loan unless there is a significant departure to fund a permanent addition.
