Lopez hoping for more action

Speaking to the club's official website, Lopez said: "I am very happy to be here. When I first came, it was my ambition to get a place in the first-team squad, and now I have done that I want to do my best for the manager and for the club.

"There are several things that attracted me to Wigan Athletic. For a start, the manager is Spanish and a lot of the players here speak Spanish, which has made it easier for me to communicate and settle in.

"Also the club is established in the Premier League, and that is a big opportunity for a young player like myself. My new team-mates have helped me to adapt very quickly and I already feel at home.

"I was happy to play my first game for Wigan at the weekend, and it was an extra special day because the team won and we are in the next round of the FA Cup. But now we have to focus on the Premier League and I hope to play my part."

The Latis face Fulham on Saturday in a crucial fixture at the wrong end of the table. Tickets are still available for the game with the club offering two adults for just £20. Click here for more information.
