You know who
In essence, Maurice Lindsay will now have his fingers very much in the pie of Wigan Athletic Football Club, while Latics vice chairman Phillip Williams and director Brian Ashcroft will join the Warriors board of directors.

The move is being billed as a "unique partnership the two organisations, which are proudly representing the town of Wigan in the top flights of their sports, are to come closer together to share the wealth of talent and expertise on and off the pitch."

All of the parties involved with continue with their role at their original club, alongside the extra duty discussed. Brenda Spencer will remain as chief exectuive of the Latics.

The club quote Maurice as "been a long-standing supporter of the football club following the side over many years." I'm sure one or two supporters will have something to say about that.

Meanwhile, the man who matters, Dave Whelan said: "We are blessed in this town to have two sporting clubs who are known throughout the world. By coming together in this way and sharing the talent that both clubs have we can only make the Latics and the Warriors even stronger.

"I am proud of both my clubs and have invested heavily year on year to make them stronger. My commitment is as firm now as it ever has been, both clubs have a special place in my heart and will do as long as I have breath in my body."

Mr Whelan is not a fool, and does not suffer fools gladly. The move must be in the best interests of Wigan Athletic Football Club, however, at the present time, that is hard to see...
