Lids gets call up

The former Barnsley front man, who netted a personal best 18 League goals for Latics this season, joins team-mate Paul Dalglish in the 25 man squad that has been selected by new Scotland manager Bertie Vogts. It is a chance for Vogts to look at more of the players available to him to see if any can make the step into the full international set up.

Leeds born Liddell qualifies for Scotland as his father Gary, the former Leeds and Grimsby forward, was born in Bannockburn and the Latics favourite has already represented Scotland by playing for the Under 21 side during his spell at Barnsley.

While Liddell will be looking to force his way into the full squad, Dalglish will also be looking impress, as he has been allowed to leave the JJB Stadium after just one season. A good performance at the training camp could certainly go a long way to earning himself a contract at a new club.

Good Luck to the lads.
