Latics victorious in sole home friendly

The breakthrough came after half an hour as Waghorn cooly headed James Tavernier's cross into the far corner.

Not long later and Besiktas were level as a free kick from left back Koybasi Ismail eluded Carson at his near post.

The win was sealed not long into the second half as Waghorn's sharpness in the box caused a dangling leg to bring him down. He then slotted the resulting penalty into the corner of the goal.

New signing Oriol Reira played the final half and hour up front but too much couldn't be read into the line up with Rosler opting to shuffle his pack for fitness.
