The 28 year old defender was previously linked with a move to the DW Stadium back in 2006 when he moved from Swiss side BSC Young Boys to German team Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Standing at nearly 6 foot 3, the powerful centre back joined Mönchengladbach for a fee of £1m.

He has previously had spells with both Paris St Germain in France and Bologna in italy.

During his time in Germany, Gohouri made forty-nine appearances scoring two goals. He was also called up to the Ivory coast national side, scoring three goals in two games.

Gohouri has been linked with both Arsenal and Stoke City in the past. He is currently out of contract after leaving Germany, with both the Latics and Barnsle assessing the situation.

Meanwhile, midfielder Ben Watson is being linked with a permanent move to Championship side Cardiff City after competing his loan spell with Q.P.R.
