The Latics played a strong lookin eleven but Martinez revealed little as to what his favoured eleven is likely to be.

Charles N'Zogbia grabbed the Wigan goal to equalıse Jorge Lopez' penalty.

Late goals from Braulio Nobrega and a 35 yard screamer from Gabriel Fernandez won the game for Zaragoza.

Speaking about the game, Martinez said: “Tonight wasn’t about the result. “I was pleased with many things.

“It was the first time we managed to get Mauro Boselli and Hugo Rodallega through 90 minutes, and for Antolin Alcaraz to get through 55 minutes was a big plus.

“Ronnie Stam also looked like he’s been with Wigan for three years, while James McArthur got the crowd going when he came on and showed he will be a great character to have around.”

Wigan Athletic: Kirkland; Boyce (Stam, 55), Gohouri, Alcaraz (Golobart, 60), Figueroa (Baradji, 45); McCarthy, Diame; N'Zogbia (Gomez, 45), Watson (McArthur, 45), Rodalega, Boselli

Subs (Unused): Al Habsi, Scotland, Moses
