Tomasz Cywka, unknown to the football world to date, but surely a star of the future. At just 17 years of age, the attacking midfielder has represented his country at youth level and signed a three year contract with Premiersip club Wigan Athletic.

Cywka will join the Latics in the summer after he has completed his education in his native Poland. It is unclear how much will be paid for the youngster and his club, Gwarek Zabrze, may well take the Latics to a tribunal with the midfielder being under 24.

Manager Paul Jewell said: "Tomasz is exactly the sort of player we are looking for at Wigan, a young prospect, who will hopefully be able to fulfill his potential with us.

"He is a bright lad with an excellent attitude, and we are convinced he can go onto play a major part in the future of Wigan Athletic. His English is already excellent and I'm sure he'll fit in here."

It is also rumoured that Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in the youngster, with the Latics winning the race for his signiture.

Jewell continued: "It also says something about the growing reputation of the club when we can attract one of the top young players around, because we have had to beat off stiff opposition in order to land him."

This is another fantastic capture for the club who have faught off some big names to bring the boy in. The prospect of first team football is something you cannot put a price on.
