Latics poised to sign Hall

.....Wigan are short in numbers at the back with Matt Jackson and Arjan DeZeeuw the only two recognised centre backs at the club.

Young legs are also a must at centre back as both DeZeeuw and Jackson are on the wrong side of 30. After seeing moves for high profile players such as Robert Huth and Andrew Johnson fail to materialise, Wigan boss Paul Jewell is determined to sign the Hall.

The 25-year-old is beleived to have completed his medical over the weekend and is close to putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

Paul Jewell is still chasing West Brom trio Nathan Ellington, Zoltan Gera and Curtis Davies, whilst paper reports are claiming that the Baggies are set to pay £2million to re-sign Latics striker Jason Roberts
