Latics must seize chance to pull away

Last updated : 04 January 2005 By Paul Farrington
Rotherham pulled off the shock win of the day. They beat playoff chasing Millwall 2-1 at the New Den with goals from Butler and Scott. It was just Rotherham's third win so far this season.

In the SKY SPORTS live game, Derby beat Reading. Reading had the better of the first half but Derby went in at the break 1-0 up. Thats how it stayed with Tommy Smith's goal enough to take all three points to Pride Park.

Sunderland who are immediately below the Latics in the table could only manage a 1-1 draw with relegation threatened Gillingham. Henderson had put Gillingham in front before Brown equalised for the Black Cats.

Team News (Wigan V Wolves)

Breckin: Suspended
Ian Breckin is suspended for the game and as a result Jackson is ikely to return and partner Emerson Thome at the heart of the Wigan defence.

Gareth Whalley is likely to retain his place ahead of Alan Mahon in midfield after another impressive performance at Bramall Lane.

Meanwhile the gamblers amoungst us will be tempted to put their money on a 1-1 draw. Wolves have drawn their last FIVE games 1-1.

Surely not?!

Wigan (likely) 4-4-2: Filan, Eaden, Baines, Jackson, Thome, Graham, McCulloch, Bullard, Whalley, Roberts, Ellington.
