Latics join Ashton race?

Ashton is reportedly target a target for Manechester City and West Ham with the Latics also set to join the race.

However Norwich are keen to hold onto the England Under 21 international striker and are said to be demanding a fee upwards of £6 million pounds, leaving Premiership bosses sceptical over the gamble.

Canaries boss Nigel Worthington said: "I'll say it again and again, unless there is a very substantial offer on the table he won't be going anywhere.

"Let everyone else speculate about the figures involved. All I will say is that when the figure suits the football club we will sit down and look at it and then - and only then - will business be done.

"Other than that he is a Norwich City player and that's what he needs to concentrate on and focus on. You can never stop speculation but it is what happens in January that is important. So why worry about that now when we are not even there yet?"
