Latics hopeful of signing attacking duo

Twenty two year old New Zealander Wood is a target for Rosler as he looks to sign an imposing striker capable of running the line up top in his 4-3-2-1 formation.

The former West Brom man is finding first team action hard to come by at the Walker Stadium and is expected to follow in the tracks of Martyn Waghorn and move to the DW Stadium with a permanent signing being touted.

Also expected to join is Brentford midfielder Adam Forshaw who was left out of the Bees aquad at the weekend for their game with Charlton Athletic.

Forshaw, also 22, is a former Everton trainee and the current League One player of the year following his inspirational performances for the Bees in their promotion winning season last year.

The two sides are yet to agree a fee for the player with Brentford holding out for an astronomical, and unrealistic fee.

Speaking to get West London, Brentford manager Mark Warburton said: "We had two bids for the player, neither of which were remotely acceptable. Britt Assombalonga goes from Peterborough to Nottingham Forest for £5.5million down, rising to £8.2m so we’re reliably informed.

"He’s a striker with a premium but that tells you where you should be for the League One Player of the Year."

It is likely that a fee in the region of £1.5m will be agreed between the clubs.
