According to media reports an initial bid for Brentford's Adam Forshaw has been rejected although the Latics are believed to be optimistic of completing a transfer for the former Everton player before the start of the season.

Twenty-two year old Forshaw joined the Bees from Everton after impressing during a loan spell and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the London club which culminated in winning the League One player of the season award last season.

Speaking before the news of the Wigan interest Forshaw said: "I'm used to all the speculation now after hearing things for the past year and a half.

"You have to take it with a pinch of salt and, although any interest is flattering, your aim is just to do well on the pitch.

"My aim was promotion with Brentford and we achieved that. I've still got two more years left on my contract and am really happy here."

The move for Forshaw is further illustration of Rosler's clear desire to have a rich stream of youth running through his squad.
