Latics have no reason to be afraid

Mathias was manager of the Latics twice, with both periods being successful terms in office. He was also in charge whilst we were playing at Springfield Park.

He said, "Paul Jewell played for me and he is proving himself to be an excellent manager.

"I've seen a lot of games in Division One this season and there isn't what you'd term a stand-out team.

"There is quality but there's no need for Wigan to be either frightened or overawed by any of the other teams out there. They are up there on merit.

"Wigan can certainly finish in the play-offs and anything could then happen over two games."
