The Latics are currently seventh, behind Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City respectively. However with five of those top six likely to qualify for Europe through their league positions, Steve Bruce's side could well be awarded the final European Place.

Speaking of the opportunity to manage the Latics in Europe, Bruce told the Sun newspaper: "If you get into Europe by winning the Fair Play league, it's a huge bonus."

Meantime, talks with Kim Min-Jae have broken down and the South Korean
will aim to earn a deal in his home county for the time being.
