Latics complete Olembe capture

The 26 year old has joined on a free transfer after leaving Marseille in June and as he was a free agent, Olembe was not subject to the transfer window regulations.

With 60 caps for his country, a grasp of the English language and a spell with Leeds United four years ago, Olembe has many of the attributes that Hutch was looking for in a full back.

Reknowned for his rocket shots and fleet of foot, Olembe adds much needed competition at left back, namely as he is the only recognised one currently with the club.

Speaking about his new additions, Hutchings told the club's official site: "Salomon is an experienced campaigner, who's played at the highest level. We've had our eye on him for quite a while, and like all our signings, we have done a lot of research on him.

"He knows what the demands of the Premier League are and he can speak the language, which is important. You need to be able to adapt to the demands of the English game, and I'm confident that he will fit the bill. He's a clever player, he's got pace, a great left peg and is strong in the tackle."

Olembe has joined on a one year deal that will no doubt be reviewed upon the season's close. Welcome to Wigan Saloman.
