Latics complete comprehensive Leeds victory

Nathan Ellington opened the scoring after good work from Teale down the right, he converted the cross from close range to give Latics an early lead.

JR: Unlucky not score but an awesome performance from the frontman
Roberts had the ball in the net after a well worked corner involving Gary Teale, he toe-poked Teale's shot home from close range only to be told he was offside, despite the pressence of 2 Leeds defenders and Sullivan on the goal line!

Lee McCuloch added the second, although there is debate as to who's goal it was. Jason Roberts was also claiming the goal. It was given to McCulloch who got the intial header from Jimmy Bullard's corner, but the ball did take a big deflection on its way to goal. Personally it seemed like an own goal from where I was sat!

Alan Mahon added the last with a superb strike into the top corner from all of 25 yards. Jason Roberts was unlucky not to score just moments earlier as he hit the inside of the post after beating two Leeds defenders.

It was a comprehensive performance from the Latics today with the whole eleven playing well, those who stood out for me were Ian Breckin at the back, who was a colossus, Leeds just couldn't beat him, Alan Mahon played well in midfield and made Gregan look even slower than normal.

Gary Teale seemed back to his usual self on the right flank and gave Michael Gray a torrid time.

The duo of Ellington and Roberts upfront were awesome. In particular JR, he worked for every ball and was a more than a thorn in the Leeds side, and deserved a goal.

More to follow.
