Latics after a second Swede

Johan Elmander of Brondby
Elmander has already done the rounds in Europe, having already played for Feyenoord and Breda in Holland.

He started his career in his native Sweden with Holmalunds IF before moving to Örgryte IS. A big money move to Holland then came his way, however he failed to settle at Feyenoord and was loaned out to NAC Breda where he had his most prolific season scoring seven goals.

He has also spent time on loan at Djurgardens IF, again in Elmander's native Sweden. He currently plays for FC Brondby in Denmark, where the Latics are playing a series of behind closed doors friendlies this summer.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Elmander can play on either flank or in the centre and has been known to play the odd game as a striker. He currently holds 13 international caps and has yet to net for his country.

Fellow Brondby player, and centre back Daniel Aggar has also been linked with a move to the JJB.

Latics fans are desperate for their first signing of the summer and are getting anxious over the Latics survival hopes with the current squad being so small.

Meanwhile, the deal for Rotherham goalkeeper Mike Pollitt seems to have hit a stumbling block with the Latics offering him a derisory deal to be John Filan's understudy.

He may well team up with ex-boss Ronnie Moore at Oldham Athletic if the Latics do not up their offer.
