Latest Transfer Rumours

Ian Breckin: Sheffield Bound?
Both Nicky Eaden and Ian Breckin have been linked with moves away from the club.

Breckin, who played a huge part in the promotion season has been linked with a £500,000 move to Sheffield United by Sky Sports.

Whilst full back Eaden is said to have agreed a two year deal with Nottingham Forest in League One. This one again came from Sky Sports.

Many supporters are disillusioned with the transfer activity so far this summer and are not convinced by what is being seen.

Unless big names are coming in this summer en-mass then there is no reason why players such as Breckin and Eaden should leave.

Jason Jarrett has already been lost to Norwich City and it seems as though the future's of Jimmy Bullard and Nathan Ellington could also be in doubt.

The pair have just twelve months to run on their current deals and the club are looking to extend them.

Jimmy Bullard: Stallig over his new contract
However club chairman Dave Whelan has commented that if the pair do not agree new deals then they will be sold.

"I think they will sign, but one thing is sure if they don't - they will be sold," he said.

Whilst Tony Finnigan, Ellington's agent said: "The club have offered a deal that is currently not acceptable. The player is more than happy to stay.

"He only moved to Wigan for one reason only and that was to get them in The Premiership and now that he is there we are making sure he is happy on and off the park and negotiations will continue and if we don't agree then it is the club's prerogative to sell. But I am optimistic he will stay.

"Nathan Ellington has been asked questions ever since he came into the game and each season he gets into double figures and what we must remember he was injured for over half of last season and as far as we are concerned he is one of the best British forwards around."

Perhaps the policy in the wages department needs a re-think. Loyal players such as Bullard and Ellington, who have regularly stated their love for the club, are being tempted elsewhere. This surely means that the Latics are offering derisory sums of money and need to catch up with the market.

Meanwhile Christian Vieri has been released by Inter Milan but he would of course require payment to play football and so a move to the JJB can be ruled out!
