Since West Brom missed out on promotion vi the play-offs, the Premiership vultures have circled round the Hawthorns. With Diomansy Kamara moving to Fulham for £6million, numerous clubs (including Fulham) have shown interest in Koumas.

The Cottagers had a double bid for Kamra and Koumas rejected, whilst Birmingham also had a cash plus player offer rejected.

Prior to todays bid, Wigan manager Hutchings had a £4million bid rejected, but is now set to land his man after weeks of chasing.

Talking about Koumas and Kamara, West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace said: "We have said all along we will only consider selling players like Jason if we receive head-turning offers and that the deals are in the club's best interests.

"We feel these offers mirror those criteria."

Koumas is expected in Wigan as early as tomorrow to discuss personal deals, with Hutchings rumoured to offer the Welsh midfielder a bumper £30,000 a week deal to sign for the Latics.

New boss Chris Hutchings has been busy in the transfer market, and the addition of Koumas to the midfield would add much needed creativity in a department reknowned for its hard-working style at the JJB.

Michael Brown on Fulham and Marlon Harewood could also follow shortly to add more strength to the sqaud for next term.
