Chris Kirkland: Wants three points from Pride Park
The England international goalkeeper had a superb game for the Latics at Anfield and has been regaining form after a poor period at the start of the season. He is now calling for Wigan to "kill off" any hopes that Derby have of survival with three points on Saturday.

Kirkland told the Wigan Observer: "Our next Cup Final is against them [Derby]. We've got to go there and try and get the three points. That would possibly kill them off. From our point of view hopefully it does.

"We're not worried about anyone else. If we play like we have been doing and stick together then we'l be fine. It's been a good time for us recently.

"We've picked up eight points over the last five games and got ourselves back out of the bottom three. The gaffer never gave in when he played and that's what he wants from us.

"We don't want to give him the opportunity to question our committment. We're fighting for him and fighting for each other.

"It's been a tough period. We haven't got the biggest of squads, but thankfully we haven't got any serious injuries. There's seventeen games left and anything can happen. We all know Paul Jewell. He will never give in and I'm sure he'll be telling his players that."

Meantime, the club are being linked with moves for strikers Michael Mifsud and Carlos Tenorio with deals expected in the next week.

Mifsud has led the Coventry scoring charts and has impressed for the Sky Blues so far this term. Reading and Birmingham are also said to be interested in the £3 million rated Maltese striker.

Tenorio on the other hand is an international team mate of Antonio Valencia for Equador. Currently plying his trade for Arabian club Al-Sadd the 28 year old is quick and strong in the air.
