Kirkland insists Latics will survive

Despite admitting that this is currently a very difficult time for the club, Kirkland knows the the Latics have the players to get out of trouble.

He said: "It has been a tough time lately. It's as bad a run as I've experienced and, when you look at the table it's not pretty, but at this point I'm not worried about relegation.

"Everyone in the dressing room is confident we have the players and that we can get out of trouble. If we play to our ability and we believe in ourselves then we will be okay.

"All the lads here will give everything they have got for the club. We're up for the fight. We have been playing better than some of our results suggest, but this is a results business.

"We would all rather put in a bad performance and get three points than play well and get nothing out of the game. We know we need to get some points, and we showed we can do that when we went five games unbeaten earlier this season."
