Kilbane tips Latics for Europe

The 32 year old Republic of Ireland international moved to the KC Stadium for £500,000 in January.

Speaking about the possibility of the Latics reaching Europe, Killer told the Wigan Observer: "Who knows? The ultimate goal at the beginning of the season was to stay up, get to 40 points as soon as possible, and then see how it goes.

"There is still a little bit of work to go on that score, but I don't see a great deal of problem with Wigan reaching that mark.

"Once you get to 40 points then you start to look onwards and upwards. And if they go on a good run, I don't see any reason why they can't then push on and try for a top seven finish."

Kilbane did not feature in Hull 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in last night FA Cup quarter final at the Emirates. Hull took the lead in the first half through Nicky Barmby's deflected strike, but second half goals from Van Persie and Gallas won the tie for Arsenal.
